Washington is among the most progressive of Blue States. On a clear day probably also the most beautiful.

Oddly, however, the state is a laggard when it comes to marijuana reform. Perhaps part of the reason is the lack of moral courage exhibited its politicians.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, in 2009 some 32.7% of Washington state legislators were women. By comparison the Colorado State Legislature is 39% female. The national average is 24.3%.
