Proposed Reorganization RulesEdit

The following rules will be discussed and approved at the beginning of the reorganization meeting. If you have any suggestions for changes, please articulate those suggestions here.

These proposed rules have been adapted from the reorganization rules of the 46th District Democrats.
  1. Sign-in required at check-in.
  2. Due to the lack of accurate membership records for the '05-'06 election season, all attendees of the reorganization will be eligible to vote for all officers.
  3. Meeting shall be called to order by the Temporary Chair. Temporary Chair shall preside until election of new Chair.
  4. Temporary Chair shall review Proposed Rules with the body.
  5. Credentials report.
  6. Body shall vote to approve the meeting Rules.
  7. Body shall vote to approve the Bylaws. (Note: Formal review and proposed changes to Bylaws will occur later 1st qtr ‘07)
  8. Nominations of eligible candidates and elections shall be conducted in order for positions listed in Article V, Section 4.
  9. Elections shall be conducted by secret ballot. For positions where only one candidate is nominated, election may be conducted by show of credentials or voice vote.
  10. Process for nominating and electing all positions, except At-Large positions, shall include the following:
    1. Call for nominations; close nominations.
    2. 1 minute nomination speech and 1 minute seconding speech for all candidates; order of speeches determined by order of nominations.
    3. Speakers for all races may be WSDCC Members, Attendees or candidates.
    4. A majority vote is required to be elected to office.
    5. If a race has more than two candidates and no candidate receives a majority vote, then the top two shall compete in a run-off election.
  11. Process for nominating and electing At-Large positions shall include the following:
    1. Call for nominations; close nominations.
    2. 1 minute nomination speech and 1 minute seconding speech for all candidates; order of speeches determined by order of nominations.
    3. Speakers for all races may be WSDCC Members, Attendees or candidates.
    4. Voters MUST vote for four candidates on one ballot. Ballots that do not have four candidates named shall be considered spoiled and shall not be counted.
    5. Top five vote getters are elected.
  12. If an election results in a tie vote, then there shall be one run-off between the tied candidates. If the run-off election results in a tie vote, then the winner shall be determined by lot.
  13. Only one person shall be elected to and hold any office listed in the bylaws.
