There is a lot of news about what the USA PATRIOT ACT does to our civil rights. There have been so many summaries, it's difficult to get the straight scoop. And honestly, the only way that you will be able to do that is by reading the act itself.
Which is difficult, because so much of it references other laws and reaches in to make changes to changes to changes, etc.
What I will try to do with this website is to go over the Act, and try to translate what all the changes do, and what they mean. I'm not a professional, so this is going to take a very long time, but I thought I'd give it a go.
Congressman Conners's office posted an analysis of the PATRIOT ACT on October 12th, 2001, but I'm thinking this might be the original text that congress worked hard on, rather than the text of the version that was switched out at 3am the night before the vote.
