Resolution in support of the Reconfirmation of Department Heads Every Four Years by the Seattle City Council
Whereas, communication between executive and legislative branch is paramount to practices of good government and,
Whereas, the current City Charter already calls for reconfirmation of five department heads without any undo difficulties and,
Whereas, reconfirmation through a public City Council reappointment process will help Department heads better respond to citizens’ priorities and,
Whereas, the reconfirmation amendment follows the ongoing practice of adjusting the charter to changing times and situations for the purpose of better government and,
Whereas, public process is being encouraged to bring awareness and participation on this issue and,
Therefore, be it resolved that:
The 46th District Democrats support the passage of the Reconfirmation Amendment of the City Charter in order to provide greater public accountability of government to its citizens.
