Cuba card describes the rhetorical ploy of claiming that any restraint on economic inequality will lead to radical egalitarianism and mass poverty.

ExampleEdit

Speaking at the New York Times DealBook conference on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, Jamie Dimon, current chair, president and chief executive officer of JPMorgan Chase, siad that, "We all want an equitable society. We need to have a conversation about what makes it equitable," but warned that "You can go do it the way that Cuba tried. Okay, well, then it will be equitable, but everyone won't have much." Source: Jamie Dimon At DealBook Conference: Wall Street Pay Caps Would Put 'Free Society' At Risk' Huffington Post. December 12, 2012. Urging a "conversation" is managerial patter used to avoid discussing specifics at present for the promise of some vague concessions in the future, which never arrives.
