Barb Byrum was one two Democratic state legislators silenced by the Republican Majority Floor Leader Jim Stamas as punishment for their previous opposition to legislation restricting reproductive freedom. The other state legislator was Lisa Brown. Byrum was gaveled out of order by the priggish Stamas after protesting that she wasn't allowed to speak on her amendment, which would have required proof of a medical emergency or that a man's life was in danger before a doctor could perform a vasectomy.
